Online safety is critical in a world where everyone and everything is connected 24/7/365. And promoting it is the main focus for the South West Grid for Learning (SWGfL), a charity dedicated to supporting the safe and secure use of technology in schools, agencies and families. We work closely with SWGfL teams - in particular writing new material, as well as editing first drafts - for resources for school-age children, teachers and parents commissioned through the Welsh Government's Hwb project.
From digital tone of voice consultancy to e-newsletter copy, our work with the Maybourne Group has spanned three iconic hotels: The Berkeley, The Connaught and, of course, Claridge's. Doing justice to these hotels' sublime suites and spas, Michelin-starred dining and stellar afternoon teas is no mean feat. But for the past three years we've been doing just that, developing each hotel's distinctive tone of voice across web copy, e-newsletters, printed materials and in-room communications. Charged with writing '1000+' pages of hotel and destination copy in just seven weeks, our initial outing with SLH was more about the journey than the destination.
This project is an oldie, but still one of our all-time favourites. We were approached by Jordans when they wanted to modernise their image and develop a more down-to-earth digital voice. We happily obliged, rewriting their website and e-newsletters to get across their human side. Movies, daily blog-style news, health advice, competitions, recipes and articles about Jordans' history were condensed into readable and snackable chunks. The results showed that copy can be a great way of getting into people's hearts and minds - not to mention their cereal bowls.
